Here is a little explanation:

What if Sam really didn't died during the Nasty Burger incident? She survived and Clockwork noticed it and kept her and produced a dummy that looks like Sam. Sam has been in a coma for years!! And when she woke up, She couldn't believe that the Danny he knew changed and became evil!! She decided to be a Ghost hunter just to save Dan.
